On March 6, 2024, the final board of the State Committee on Science and Technology (SCST) was held. First Deputy Chairman of SCST Denis Korzhitsky and Deputy Chairman of SCST Tatyana Stolyarova took part as the speakers. Uladzimir Rabavolau, Director General of the National Center of Intellectual Property, participated in the work of the Board.

According to the results of 2023, the total number of applications for the issuance of protection documents for industrial property rights amounted to 7 874 (102.3% compared to 2022). Also in 2023, there was an increase in applicant activity with regard to filing applications for the grant of patents for inventions (105 % to the figures of 2022), including from national applicants. First Deputy Chairman of the SCST Denis Korzhitsky noted that the growth of these administrative procedures and, as a consequence, the growth of patent fees is due to the return of foreign right holders, as well as the increase in applications from residents of Belarus.

The country also pays special attention to innovative development. State programs are being implemented, a comprehensive forecast of scientific and technological progress until 2045 is being prepared. Cooperation with foreign partners is also being developed with an eye to the future.

«In 2024, we will continue work on the preparation of the draft resolution of the Council of Ministers «On approval of the Comprehensive Forecast of Scientific and Technological Progress for 2026-2030 and for the period up to 2045» and the draft presidential edict «On the priority directions of scientific, scientific-technical and innovation activities for 2026-2030». And also interaction with sectoral ministries (departments) will be continued to improve the procedure for implementation of scientific and technical programs, development of a network of sectoral laboratories, functioning of a unified system of state scientific and state scientific-technical expertise», - shared plans Deputy Chairman of SCST Tatyana Stolyarova.
