WIPO Course on Intellectual Property, Traditional Knowledge and Traditional Cultural Expressions

Belarusian intellectual property (IP) professionals have the opportunity to register for the WIPO Academy's advanced training course - DL203R «Intellectual Property, Traditional Knowledge and Traditional Cultural Expressions». This course offers an introduction to the legal mechanisms for the protection of traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions as IP objects.

The course covers basic concepts, international, regional and national experiences, policy options and legal mechanisms to ensure such protection. The course is designed to strengthen the human resource capacity of countries, stimulate discussion on these issues and share experiences.

The training program consists of 4 basic modules on topics:

1. Overview of the material and basic concepts.

2. Alternative options for protecting traditional knowledge (TK) and traditional cultural expressions (TCEs) as intellectual property objects.

3. Protection of TK and TCEs through existing and adapted intellectual property rights.

4. Protection of TK and TCEs through a sui generis rights protection system.

At the end of the training there is an examination test. The successful participant receives a WIPO certificate.
