EAPO and FIPS discussed the draft concept of the EAPO integrated information system

On January 19, 2023, the second meeting of the joint working group of the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) and the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS) was held. During the meeting a draft concept of the integrated information system of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) under development was presented.

The parties discussed the possibilities for integration of the Rospatent and the FIPS systems into the EAPO system under development, as well as practical experience of the FIPS developers to be taken into consideration in the creation of the systems.

The Parties agreed to jointly study the possibilities for machine translation of patent documents taking into account the new minimal documentation requirements under the PCT (international application documents), since starting with 2026 the PCT minimal documentation will include the documents without translation into English. The PCT Minimum is a set of set of documents that international search authorities, including the EAPO, are required to take into account when conducting international patent searches.

Thus, in addition to documents in English, German and French, the PCT minimum documentation may include documents in Russian, Arabic, Hungarian, Danish, Hebrew, Chinese, Korean, Turkish, Hindi, Filipino and other languages.
