Filing of international applications for inventions

Any natural person who is a citizen of the Republic of Belarus or permanently residing in the Republic of Belarus, as well as any legal entity located in the territory of the Republic of Belarus, may file an international application with the National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP) in accordance with the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).

The PCT provides an opportunity to obtain legal protection of an invention in foreign countries in the most convenient and efficient way, since an applicant needs only to file one international application with one patent office to request such protection in PCT member states at the same time.

In 2022, 10 such applications were filed with NCIP.
