First application for the use of the name of the Republic of Belarus in the trademark considered

Director General of the National Center of Intellectual Property Uladzimir Rabavolau took part in the first meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission for consideration of the possibility to grant consent to the use of certain designations in trademarks and service marks. The Commission was established in accordance with the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus of August 28, 2020 № 512 «On granting consent to the use of certain signs».

Let us remind you that in accordance with Section 4 of Article 4 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus of February 5, 1993 № 2181- XII «On Trademarks and Service Marks» anyone can include the name of the Republic of Belarus in his trademark as a non-protected element. To do that you need to apply to the appropriate commission of the State Committee on Science and Technology.
