International Writers' Day

3 march 2025

Interesting

Every year on March 3, the world celebrates International Writers' Day, a professional holiday for writers, which reminds of the importance of writing in society. The idea to create an association of writers and journalists was put forward at the beginning of the XX century by the writer Katherine Dawson. Thus appeared the PEN club, named in honor of poets, essayists and novelists (poets, essayists, novelists). Its first director was John Galsworthy, who headed the club from 1921. Since then, more than 130 branches have been opened all over the world.

During the 48th Congress of the International PEN Center, it was decided to establish a International Writers' Day to symbolize respect for writing and its role in shaping public opinion. This holiday is celebrated by writers, editors, journalists and publicists.

International Writers' Day is also a reminder of the need to uphold the rights of authors, and the importance of enabling them to work so that they can freely share their ideas and literary works with society. The protection of intellectual property contributes to the development of culture and literature, allowing authors to realize their visions without fear for their preservation.

We wish you creative success, inspiration and inexhaustible energy to create your wonderful works! Happy holiday!
