On November 16-20, 2020, the 40th session of the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights was held in a hybrid format at the headquarters of the World Intellectual Property Organization (Geneva).

The event covered protection of broadcasting organizations’ rights, limitations and exceptions to copyright for libraries and archives, educational and research institutions, persons with disabilities. A number of topical issues were put forward for discussion/ These include proposals for research on the use of copyright in the digital environment; the proposal made by Senegal and Congo to include the issue of equity (with respect to succession rights) on the agenda for the future work of the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights; the proposal of the Russian Federation to strengthen the protection of the rights of production directors at the international level, etc.

The National Center of Intellectual Property was represented by the Head of the Copyright and Related Rights Department Alexander Denisman and Head of the Division of Copyright and Related Rights Legislation Yekaterina Yantikova.
