On November 23-26, 2020, the 43rd session of the Standing Committee on the Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications (SCT) of the World Intellectual Property Organization was held in Geneva. NCIP experts of the Trademark Department attended the meetings. Taking into account the recommendations and restrictions caused by COVID-19, the session was held in a hybrid format.

The agenda of the 43rd session of SCT included the issues of information exchange on the digital access service for priority documents (DAS), protection of graphical user interface designs as industrial designs, and provisional protection granted to industrial designs at certain international exhibitions. During a separate briefing session devoted to geographical indications (GIs) the issues of assessing GIs protection conditions, unfair use and registration of intellectual property rights to GIs in the Domain Name System (DNS) were discussed.
