Belarus is interested to work with the World Bank experts in developing the State Program for Innovative Development (SPID) for 2021-2025. This was announced during the video conference with the World Bank experts by the Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology (SCST) of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Shumilin. “The State Committee on Science and Technology, together with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, has prepared two Innovation Development Reviews of the Republic of Belarus. The recommendations of these reviews were used in the development and implementation of the SPID for 2016-2020. It is important for Belarus that the World Bank participate in the formation and implementation of the State Program for Innovative Development for 2021-2025, both in developing systematic proposals for accelerated innovative development of the republic and in implementing specific innovative projects,” he said. Alexander Shumilin also noted that 72 projects for the creation of new industries, which are crucial for the innovative development of the country, were included in the SPID project for 2021-2025, of which 19 projects are based on the V-VI technological modes technologies, 23 projects are based on domestic developments.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of development and improvement of support mechanisms for the implementation of innovative projects, including in the field of information and communication technologies, medicine and pharmacy, biotechnology, mechanical engineering and instrument making, nanomaterials.
