On June 25, 2020, a prolonged discussion on the development of the Strategy of the Republic of Belarus in the Sphere of Intellectual Property for 2021–2030 was held in a video conference format. The event was attended by the representatives of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO): Mr. Olexander Shevchenko – Assistant Program Officer, Department for Transition and Developed Countries (Switzerland), Mr. Ron Marchant – WIPO Consultant (Great Britain); and the National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP) experts: Mr. Uladzimir Rabavolau – Director General of NCIP, Mrs. Tatsiana Kavaleuskaya – Head of the Legal and Human Resources Department, Mr. Dzmitry Andryieusky – Head of the Division of Registration and Promotion of Industrial Property Commercialization, and Mr. Arthur Akhramenka – Head of the International Cooperation Division.


The discussion took place both in an expanded format engaging representatives of interested ministries, departments and other organizations (the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Belarusian Association of Patent Attorneys), and in the framework of the working group discussion involving of WIPO and NCIP experts.

They discussed issues that, according to those interested, should be included in the Strategy, existing problems that were not reflected or were not solved during the previous Strategy implementation, and approaches to dissemination of information concerning the future Strategy to the general public.
