On October 8-9, 2020, supported by the Skolkovo Foundation and the IPChain Association an international online conference Distant & Digital was held. It brought together two conferences on intellectual property (IP) and digital law – IP Academy and Skolkovo LegalTech. The new format in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic is aimed at identifying global trends, certain vectors of economic development at the intersection of law, IP and IT technologies, as well as formation of new law enforcement practice in the digital era.
The topics of the forum covered a wide range of issues in the IP field, including the future of national patent protection systems, legislative regulation of BigData circulation and ethical aspects, new digital services in IP, industrial design and the choice of the optimal protection option, source code, new technologies and legal practice, investment in new IP-related technologies and lost profits, artificial intelligence and the limits of its capabilities, protection of trade secrets, management of IP rights in holdings and corporations.
The conference speakers were representatives of the World Intellectual Property Organization, the Eurasian Patent Office, the Federation Council of Russia, the largest Russian mobile operator MTS, the Skolkovo Foundation, the leading global auditing company Deloitte (UK), the academic community of the University and the Academy of Law of Singapore.
The expert and management team of the National Center of Intellectual Property took part in the conference as well.
