On April 26, 2021, the 23rd republican online seminar “Topical Issues in the Intellectual Property Sphere” was held under the motto “Intellectual property and SMEs. How to commercialize your ideas” within the framework of the World Intellectual Property Day campaign.

The seminar was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, the Republican Library on Science and Technology (RLST), Scientific and Technology Park “Polytechnic” (BNTU), BelBrand Consult LLC, and a number of patent attorneys. The National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP) was represented by the Head of the Division of Registration and Promotion of Industrial Property Commercialization Dzmitry Andryieuski and Leading Specialist of the Department of Scientific, Educational and Publishing Activities, Head of the Scientific and Innovation Department of the SRI PCP BSU Yuri Nechepurenko.

The speakers covered the most important topics of fulfilling the country’s intellectual capacity, commercialization as a tool for the organizations’ development, as well as the use of patent information as a source of practical data on the market situation.

NCIP Director General Uladzimir Rabavolau addressed the participants of the seminar in his welcoming speech: “We live in the world of intellectual property. Every day a large number of intellectual property objects are created. Some of them remain undiscovered, and some achieve a technological breakthrough and bring companies, countries and humanity as a whole to a new standard of living and development. We can only assume what the next step in the innovation and technologies development will be and what questions, including those related to legal protection and distribution of rights, will arise. That is why it’s important to conduct such events as this one, within which we can discuss current problematic issues, prospects for further intellectual property development and, if possible, determine vectors for future joint activities”.

An important part of the event was the signing of the Agreement on Cooperation between NCIP and RLST.
