The National Center of Intellectual Property, functioning as the IP Office, conducts examination, registration of industrial property objects and the issuance of safeguarding certificates.

The data illustrating the progress achieved in the III quarter of 2020 is presented below (inventions, utility models, industrial designs, plant varieties, topographies of integrated circuits).

When comparing the rates for the III quarter of 2020 with the same period of 2019, consistency of the number of applications filed for the issuance of safeguarding certificates is observed, making up a total of 242.

At the same time, there is an increase in the applicant's activity in relation to:
Inventions – 115 (in Q3 of 2019 – 103), an increase of 11.7%;
utility models – 74 (in Q3 2019 – 59), an increase of 25.4%;
plant varieties – 9 (in Q3 2019 – 1), an increase of 800%;
topographies of integrated circuits – 4 (in Q3 2019 – 2), an increase of 100%.

At the same time, the number of applications for industrial designs decreased by 48.1% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 40 (in Q3 2019 – 77).

Dynamics of filing patent applications in the III quarter of 2019 – 2020

In total, 763 applications were received in January – September 2020 (921 applications in January – September 2019).

These include patent applications for:
inventions – 346;
utility models – 238;
industrial designs – 149;
plant varieties – 23;
topographies of integrated circuits – 3.

In the III quarter of 2020, 217 patents were registered for:
inventions – 90 (in Q3 2019 – 83), 8.4% growth;
utility models – 62 (in Q3 2019 – 61), 1.6% growth;
industrial designs – 60 (in Q3 2019 – 33), 81.8% growth;
plant varieties – 5 (in Q3 2019 – 13), 61.5% decrease.


Dynamics of patent registrations in the III quarter of 2019 – 2020

In January – September 2020, 327 inventions, 203 utility models, 179 industrial designs, 12 plant varieties and 15 topographies of integrated circuits were registered.
