Extraordinary Session of the WIPO Coordination Committee to nominate a candidate for appointment to the post of Director General was held on March 4­­ – 5, 2020.

Mr. Uladzimir Rabavolau, Director General of the National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP), and Mr. Arthur Akhramenka, Head of the International Cooperation Division of NCIP, took part at the WIPO Coordination Committee.

Governments of Kazakhstan, Singapore, China, Ghana, Colombia and Peru proposed their candidates for nomination to the post of WIPO Director General.

Following two rounds of voting the Coordination Committee nominated Mr. Daren Tang for appointment to the post of Director General by the WIPO General Assembly, the Paris Union Assembly, and the Berne Union Assembly, which will meet in Extraordinary Session on May 7 and 8, 2020.

The term of office of the current WIPO Director General Mr. Gurry will expire on September 30, 2020.
