Information about Eurasian industrial designs to be added in “DesignView”
11 december 2020
In December 2020, a working meeting between representatives of the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) on the EAPO's accession to the EUIPO “DesignView” project was held via a videoconference.
The DesignView search engine is a free EUIPO information resource with a Russian-language interface that provides access to information on industrial designs of all participating intellectual property offices.
Information about registered industrial designs is provided by the IP offices – participants in the project – and is accumulated on the EUIPO servers. At the moment, the project participants are 72 national and regional IP offices, including those of the Russian Federation, the USA, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and the People's Republic of China.
Participation of EAPO in the EUIPO “DesignView” project will allow applicants from the Eurasian region and other users of the Eurasian patent system, when filing an application for the grant of a Eurasian industrial design patent, to conduct a preliminary search for industrial designs protected both on the territory of the EAPC member states and on the territory of other states participating in the project.
