Ivan Bliznets, Academic Director of the Scientific and Education Centre on IP and Digital Economy, was awarded the badge of distinction of the state institution “National Center of Intellectual Property” for significant personal contribution to the development of the intellectual property system.

The awarding ceremony was held on 19 July 2021 by the Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology A. Shumilin as part of the opening of the Summer School of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).


Ivan Bliznets, born in the Rechitsa district of the Gomel region, Belarus, is a prominent Russian lawyer, PhD in Law, Professor, Head of the Russian Professorship Assembly IP Center, WIPO expert and former rector of the Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property.

He is a member of the editorial boards of several scientific journals, including the scientific and practical journal “Intellectual property in Belarus”.

The badge of distinction of the state institution “National Center of Intellectual Property” “Honourable badge” is a form of encouragement for many years of fruitful, conscientious work in the National Center of Intellectual Property. The badge is awarded to employees of the National Center, as well as other persons who have made a significant personal contribution to the development of the intellectual property (IP) system, IP rights protection and enforcement system, collective management system, legislation in the IP field, creation of industrial property objects, promotion of IP, including those who have achieved high intellectual activity results and worked in the IP field for at least 5 years. The badge of distinction can also be awarded to other persons for special merits and effective assistance in the implementation of the state IP policy.
