Representatives of NCIP and CISAC discussed key issues related to CMOs’ activities

On February 19, 2021, a working meeting of representatives of the National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP) and the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers. (CISAC) was held via videoconference.

This event was initiated by NCIP with the aim of exchanging experience on practical aspects in the sphere of collective management of the rights of authors and other right holders.

NCIP was represented by Head of the Legal and Human Resources Department Tatsiana Kavaleuskaya, Head of the Copyright and Related Rights Department Alexander Denisman, Head of the International Cooperation Division Arthur Akhramenka, Head of the Accounting and Reporting Department Tatsiana Tryfankova, and Leading Specialist of the Legal and Human Resources Department Uladzislau Tumashchyk. CISAC was represented by the CISAC Regional Director for Europe Mitko Chatalbashev.

During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail the issues of concluding agreements with foreign collective management organizations (CMOs), mechanisms for remuneration payment and ways of personal data protection.

As a result of the event, the parties noted the high potential for improving the range of services provided by CMOs in the Republic of Belarus, particularly through the integration of international practice in this sphere, and also expressed their readiness to strengthen cooperation between the two organizations.
