On September 10 – 11, 2020, the thirty-sixth (twenty-seventh ordinary) meeting of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO AC) was held in a remote format.

The event was attended by Ms. Dinara Moldosheva, Chairman of the EAPO Administrative Council, Ms. Saule Tlevlessova, President of the Eurasian Patent Office, as well as delegations of the EAPO member states.

The Belarusian delegation from the National Center of Intellectual Property was represented by the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the EAPO AC, Director General Mr. Uladzimir Rabavolau, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the EAPO AC, First Deputy Director General Mr. Aliaksei Kurman, Head of Legal and Human Resources Department Ms. Tatsiana Kavaleuskaya, Head of Industrial Property Examination Department Ms. Elena Usacheva, Head of International Cooperation Division Mr. Arthur Akhramenka, Leading Specialist of Legal and Human Resources Department Ms. Oksana Shibko.


Among the most significant issues discussed during the meeting, one can single out the EAPO's request for the status of an International Searching and Preliminary Examining Authority under the Patent Cooperation Treaty, implementation of a project to create a Eurasian system of legal industrial designs protection, and consideration of the EAPO Annual Report for 2019 and the draft budget for 2021.

During the two-day event, the Chairman and Deputy Chairmen of the EAPO AC were elected. Thus, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the EAPO AC, Director of the State Institution "National Patent Information Center" of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Mirzo Ismoilzoda was elected Chairman. The Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the EAPO AC, Director General of the State Institution “National Center of Intellectual Property” Mr. Uladzimir Rabavolau and Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the EAPO AC, Acting Head of the Intellectual Property Agency of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Ms. Kristine Hambaryan were elected as Deputy Chairpersons.


The participants of the meeting repeatedly noted the high level of interaction between the EAPO member states, which indicates the effectiveness of the existing model of cooperation in the intellectual property field in the region. The meeting was closed by identifying further steps for developing the priority areas of the EAPO.
