A meeting between the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva H.E. Mr. Yury Ambrazevich and WIPO Director General Mr. Daren Tang took place at WIPO Headquarters in Geneva on September 23rd, 2021.

Practical importance of cooperation between WIPO and Belarus has been highlighted by Mr. Yury Ambrazevich as vital across the whole spectre of IP issues and its protection. It was in October 2020 when the Republic of Belarus joined the Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired or Otherwise Print Disabled and July 2021 – the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs in July 2021 respectively. WIPO has also facilitated hosting Summer School on IP issues in July this year.

In his turn Mr. Daren Tang positively flagged progressive dynamics of WIPO-Belarus interchange lately and therefore confirmed their willingness to expand bilateral cooperation including innovation support or IP commercialisation. The WIPO Director General welcomed strenuous work on Belarusian side in supporting innovation which empowered our country to improve its rating in the Global Innovation Index (GII) report 2021. The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus handed over to the WIPO Director General an invitation on behalf of the Prime-Minister to pay an official visit to our country.
