Competition of Works
Competition among young people for the best job in the field of intellectual property
The National Intellectual Property Center (hereinafter referred to as the Center) announces a competition among young people for the best work in the field of intellectual property in the 2023-2024 academic year (hereinafter referred to as the competition).
The competition is held by the Center as a voluntary public event in order to:
- attracting public attention to intellectual property issues in the Republic of Belarus;
- popularization of science in the field of intellectual property among young people;
- to promote the formation of the scientific and human potential of the Republic of Belarus to ensure effective management of intellectual property.
The deadline for submitting bids is September 20, 2024.
The main objectives of the competition
The main objectives of the competition are:
- attracting young people to research relevant issues of legal protection and use of IP;
- finding and encouraging young people interested in the managerial, economic, tax, and accounting aspects of IP.
The participants of the competition
The participants of the competition can be represented by college students, students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus of the first and second stages of education, as well as college/university graduates who graduated in the year of the competition or in the year preceding that of the competition.
Competition nominations
The competition is held in the following nominations:
- «The best master's thesis in the IP sphere»;
- «The best diploma thesis in the IP sphere»;
- «The best term paper in the IP sphere»;
- «The best article in the IP sphere».
To take part in the competition in the nominations “The best master's thesis in the IP sphere”, “The best diploma thesis in the IP sphere” and “The best term paper in the IP sphere”, a participant can submit only independently completed master's and diploma theses, term paper defended in the year of the competition or in the year preceding the year of the competition, but not submitted for participation in it.
Self-prepared and previously unpublished articles are submitted for the competition in the nomination «The best article in the IP sphere».
The abovementioned works are called competition work, unless otherwise indicated.
A participant can submit only 1 work in 1 nomination.
Subject matter of the submitted competition works
Subjects of the submitted competitive works include topical issues of protection, enforcement and management of IP, including legal support of the objects of industrial property, copyright and related rights; economic aspects of IP; collective management of property rights of authors and other right holders; patent information support of the IP system and other issues in the IP field.
Application for participation in the competition
The application for participation must contain the following documents:

an application for participation in the competition;
a copy of the master's thesis and, if available, materials or copies thereof confirming the approval of the master's thesis results;
a copy of academic tutor's review;
a copy of the comments on a work;
an application for participation in the competition;
a copy of the thesis and, if available, materials or copies thereof confirming the approval of the results of the diploma thesis;
a copy of the academic tutor's review;
a copy of the comments on a work;
an application for participation in the competition;
a copy of the term paper and, if available, materials or copies thereof confirming the approbation of the results of the term paper;
a copy of the academic tutor's review;
an application for participation in the competition;
an article designed in accordance with the requirements for participation in the competition.
The procedure of submitting the competition works
To participate in the competition, participants should submit an application to NCIP.
- The application is submitted in print or electronic form.
- The archive should include an application containing the following documents:
- Submitted applications violating the rules and deadline for their submission shall not be considered by the competition committee.
- The participant who submitted the work is responsible for the credibility of the information presented in the application, its quality and accuracy.
- Documents submitted to the competition are not returned to its participants.
The hard copy of the application is submitted to NCIP directly or sent by mail to the address: 220034, Minsk, 20, Kozlov Str.
The application is submitted in electronic form to the e-mail address: ncip@ncip.by (marked "For Competition").
An application submitted in electronic form must be archived (valid formats are ZIP, RAR). The archive should include only 1 application for 1 competition work.
an application for participation in the competition in graphic format (jpg, jpeg, tiff, bpm, pdf);
copies of materials confirming approbation, if available, in graphic format (jpg, jpeg, tiff, bpm, pdf);
competition work in text format (doc or docx);
a copy of the academic tutor's review for the master's/diploma thesis, term paper in graphic format (jpg, jpeg, tiff, bpm, pdf);
a copy of the comments on the master's thesis, diploma thesis in graphic format (jpg, jpeg, tiff, bpm, pdf);
a copy of the article in graphic format (jpg, jpeg, tiff, bpm, pdf).
The text of the competition work submitted in print form is should also be sent to the NCIP's e-mail address (marked "Electronic version of the competition work") in text format (doc or docx). The surname, first name and patronymic (if any) of the participant and the name of the competition work shall also be indicated.
ВAttention! In order to make sure that NCIP has received an electronic application for participation in the competition, you should turn on the “Read Receipt” mode in the computer settings before sending the e-mail and call at +375 (17) 272 97 01 a few days after sending it.
Competition results
The information about competition results is published in the scientific and practical journal “Intellectual Property in Belarus”, and also posted on the official website of the NCIP.
Winners of the competition are awarded with diplomas of the NCIP. Provided the committee makes a decision, they may be also awarded with special prizes and gifts, including:
- giving a gift;
- by the winner’s consent, posting an article on the topic of the competition work on the NCIP official website;
- by the winner’s consent, publishing an article on the topic of the competition work in the scientific and practical journal "Intellectual Property in Belarus";
- provided the committee makes a decision and by the winner’s consent, taking a free-of-charge training course in one of the programmes of additional adult education offered by the NCIP, including the topic most relevant to the competition work, taking into account the winner’s wish;
- participation in scientific and practical seminars and international conferences organized by the NCIP in the field of intellectual property.
Electronic certificates of participation in the competition are issued for all participants.
