The first states to ratify the document were Belarus, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. Today the regional system of intellectual property registration covers eight states of the Eurasian space.

According to the normative documents the Eurasian Patent Convention (EAPC) came into force 3 months after the three states had deposited the acts of accession and ratification with Mr. Arpad Bogsch, the EAPC depositary - Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization. On May 12, 1995 the Republic of Tajikistan has submitted the documents of ratification of the Convention, which made the entry into force of the Convention possible. Less than in half a year the EAPC was ratified by the rest of the member-states of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO).

By December, 1995 the first fifty Eurasian patent attorneys were registered by the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO), the executive body of the organization and they ensured the filing of the Eurasian applications since January 1, 1996. The holder of the first Eurasian patent for an invention was the citizen of the Russian Federation V.I.Razmaitov who patented "Device for vortex grinding of material". Nowadays there are more than 500 Eurasian patent attorneys registered; the number of granted Eurasian patents for inventions in 1995-2022 has already exceeded 40 000.
